Some of the function available in Thumbs.db file. The present invention relates generally to an apparatus for retaining a removable handle in a holding device and, more particularly, to a retaining mechanism which is adjustable to accommodate handles of varying size. Various devices exist for mounting handles to the stem of a push button tool. For example, U.S. Pat. No. 3,950,998 discloses a push button tool that has a stem which is adapted to be held within a receptacle on a handle. The receptacle includes an annular groove on the inner surface thereof which receives the outer surface of the stem, and a transverse rib on the inner surface of the receptacle. The rib engages the outer surface of the stem and holds it within the receptacle. The push button tool also includes a spring which biases the stem away from the handle. U.S. Pat. No. 4,627,505 discloses a push button tool which includes a stem mounted on a shaft of a tool body. A handle is mounted to the tool body and includes a recess formed in the outer surface thereof which receives the shaft of the tool body. A flexible holding strap is threaded through a hole in the handle, and a retaining member is provided at one end of the handle to hold the strap in the desired position. U.S. Pat. No. 4,428,552 discloses a push button tool which includes a stem mounted on the stem mount formed on the tool body. A sleeve is formed on the stem mount to fit about the stem and includes a radially projecting rib which engages the outer surface of the stem. The sleeve is mounted for movement relative to the stem mount. The stem mount includes a radially extending slot which receives the rib of the sleeve to hold the sleeve in the desired position relative to the stem. The sleeve is biased away from the handle to release the handle. U.S. Pat. No. 5,148,953 discloses a push button tool which includes a stem mounted on a shaft of the tool body. A handle is mounted to the tool body and includes a recess formed in the outer surface thereof which receives the shaft of the tool body. The recess includes an inwardly directed lip which engages the outer surface of the stem. A holding mechanism is provided to retain the handle in a desired position. The holding mechanism includes a spring which
